About The Jeweler

Our Personal Narrative
Robert Atwood founded Atwood Jewelers in 1983 as a watch and jewelry repair store in Saugus, Massachusetts, known as The Repair Palace. Atwood Jewelers is a family-owned and operated business. He was a graduate of the Waltham School of Watchmaking and a former Sears employee with more than 25 years of experience as a watchmaker and then as a jewelry manager/buyer for the company during that time period.

In 1993, Atwood launched a second Repair Palace as a licensed company within Sears at The Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, New Hampshire, where it prospered for more than 25 years until closing its doors. As a result of this transformation, the business went from one that primarily provided jewelry, watch, and clock repair to one that also featured a large range of estate jewels and contemporary timepieces. In addition, the corporation began buying gold, silver, and platinum over-the-counter at extremely cheap prices, which it continues to do today.

It was in 1998 when Atwood's third business, a kiosk at the Mall at Whitney Field in Leominster, Massachusetts, opened. The kiosk has been maintained by Joanne Atwood, Atwood's daughter, for the past 15 years. A varied assortment of jewelry is available, as is watch and jewelry repair at this establishment.

It was decided to change the name of The Repair Palace to Atwood Jewelers after the closure of Sears in Salem, New Hampshire, in December of 2018. The Repair Palace was forced to relocate to its current location at 240 N. Broadway in Salem after the closure of Sears in Salem, New Hampshire, in December of 2018. In the years afterwards, it has grown and currently offers hundreds of items for sale, many of which are one-of-a-kind, in addition to maintaining a thriving repair business.

Scott Atwood, Robert's son, and Eileen Gormley, Robert's daughter, have a combined 48 years of experience working at Atwood Jewelers; Scott is the on-site bench jeweler while Eileen works as the shop manager. Both place a high value on customer pleasure and honesty, which has resulted in a significant number of loyal customers who are still growing today.
